University of Incarnate Word – Chapel Archives Renovation

MEP Engineering, Inc. conducted mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering renovations for document archives within the existing main chapel at the University of the Incarnate Word. Design scope of work included engineering evaluation of cost-effective replacement HVAC system options capable of maintaining a continuous chapel document preservation environment.

The document archives are located in the basement of main chapel at the University of the Incarnate Word. As part of this project, the existing building M|E|P systems were reviewed in detail to determine the adequacy for reuse within the renovated document archive space. MEP Engineering, Inc. presented a number of HVAC options to UIW Facilities for consideration, with an assessment of both temperature and humidity control capability and anticipated project cost. Ultimately, a direct replacement was deemed best for the existing hydronic fan coil units with new control systems.

The University of the Incarnate Word took possession of the newly renovated document archive facility in 2012.
