The Hartford
MEP Engineering, Inc. provided comprehensive engineering services for Hartford’s new 105,000 square foot, three-story call center. This newly constructed building included a 1,600 square foot data center with two ten-ton computer room air conditioning units, which were arranged for 100% redundancy with a common supply and return ductwork system. The electrical service consisted of an overhead/underground loop feed from the utility company, which feeds a pad mounted transformer, which in turn serves the line side of an automatic transfer switch (ATS). The other line side of the ATS is served from a 1350 kW diesel engine generator, specifically sized to provide backup power for the entire facility. The load side of the ATS serves a main switchboard, with a service class TVSS. The server room is served by a 180 kW UPS.
