North East ISD Madison High School Agriscience Facility Addition

MEP Engineering, Inc. worked closely with the owner on this $20.2 million agriscience magnet facility, located on the Madison High School campus, in San Antonio, Texas. At the time of construction, it was the second largest of its kind in the United States.

The facility includes:

  • Horticulture, flori-culture, aqua-culture & environmental science, animal science, veterinary science program elements
  • Agri-science entry level program area with woodworking and welding facilities
  • Commons area & exposition hall capable of seating 500
  • Administrative office and faculty support areas
  • Indoor show arena with seating for 750
  • Animal project centers (barns) including goat, lamb, swine, and cattle project centers with appropriate pens and support facilities
  • Water cooled central plant with gas boilers for comfort heating

The project obtained LEED certification by heavily utilizing sustainable design practices including rainwater collection, wind power, solar power, radiant floor heating and a garden roof.
