Leander ISD Larkspur Elementary School
This $27.5 millon project includes a new 112,980 square foot elementary school for in Leander, Texas. This creatively design school has colorful features designed to engage student’s imaginations, and offers many fun visual details. As with many new schools, there are flex spaces designed to offer a collaborative learning environment, or chance for a student to have a quite space to complete their work. MEP Engineering was hired by project architect, O’Connell Robertson Architects, and provided the following:
- Ultra high-efficiency ground-coupled, geothermal heat pumps, serving all classroom/teaching areas
- Dedicated outside air through multiple heat recovery units equipped with total energy recovery wheels and chilled water cooling coils
- Plumbing systems with electronic sensors on water closets, urinals and lavatories to conserve water and ensure sanitation
- Electrical systems included fluorescent classroom, common area lighting, parking lot lighting, and fire alarm systems.
This facility officially opened to students for the 2019 school year.
