Bob Frick, P.E. Founder | Sr. Consulting Engineer

Bob Frick, one of MEP’s Founding Principals, now serves as a Consulting Senior Mechanical Engineer for select project assignments. He has over 35 years of mechanical engineering design experience, including over 12 years on the owner’s side working for Sysco.  In this role, he developed their facilities design guidelines and was responsible for the planning and construction management of over 100 distribution center additions and new facilities.  Having the unique perspective of working as an owner client provides a more in-depth understanding of project challenges, the importance of designing systems that will be user-friendly and operational, and having the ability to provide exclusive designs rather than canned solutions.

Bob enjoys discussing the pros and cons of alternatives with the client before the design phase and works diligently to obtain commitment for proposed solutions early in the process. Bob has a wide variety of system designs, including HVAC systems up to 2,000 tons for schools, offices, laboratories, computer centers, manufacturing, and banks; central plants; fire protection systems; control systems; energy recovery and conservation systems; paint spray booths; and water treatment facilities.  He has also performed extensive energy conservation studies for universities, hospitals, schools, and offices.  He has developed an expertise in K-12 schools, laboratories and federal projects that often require innovative solutions given the complex nature of the building requirements.

Outside of work, Bob enjoys spending time with his family, which includes three grandchildren, and traveling.  He also loves tennis, ballroom dancing and road biking.  Bob is both good on his feet and quick with his mind.
