Alexander (Sandy) Simko, P.E. Principal

Sandy Simko, who started at the firm as a young graduate engineer, now leads firm’s Austin Electrical Engineering department.   He is an engineer that both clients and contractors tend to easily connect with from the beginning. With his friendly and engaging personality, Sandy is a dedicated problem solver who is always happy to clearly explain any technical issue, thoughtfully discuss his analysis and reasoning, and succinctly present his proposed recommendations and solutions.  His project experience is quite diverse, and this broad knowledge base helps him thoroughly understand and address the needs of practically any project. He maintains ongoing communication with his clients to identify problems and develop solutions early in the design phase. He produces comprehensive and efficient engineering designs that are clearly presented, thereby reducing constructability issues and potential change orders.  By focusing on solid design practices on the front end, he eliminates costly mistakes in the construction administration phase.  His ability to effectively multitask enables him to maintain focus on a large volume of work at any given time.  Sandy has developed strong relationships with clients, contractors and fellow team members that are invaluable during project discussions and coordination.

Sandy has designed electrical power and lighting systems, backup generation systems, special electrical systems and renewable energy systems for both domestic and international projects.  Additionally, Sandy is intimately familiar with electrical construction methods and practices, issues related to control of materials and of inventory, and supervision of project teams.  He is considered an expert at developing innovative solutions for even the most complex of issues.

On a personal note, Sandy was previously an amateur drag racer in his youth.  Today he rides motorcycles and enjoys working under the hood of his classic Ford Bronco truck.  Sandy and his wife are parents to two wonderful children, though he admits his new dad duties have put the brakes on his speed demon days just a bit.
