Gateway College Preparatory School

This $18.4 million project included a new elementary school and middle school learning center and main gymnasium for the Gateway College Preparatory School, owned by Orenda Education. This charter school serves students in kindergarten through twelfth grade, all on one 40 acre campus. Gateway College Preparatory School’s goal is to set up students for college in a small, private school atmosphere, where children can get a more personalized education. MEP Engineering, Inc. served as a subconsultant to Pfluger Architects.

The athletic addition included a competition gym, with an 800 person capacity. M|E|P systems were designed for a concessions area, public restrooms, and locker rooms. The HVAC for this facility is provided by multiple rooftop units. The learning center is three-stories and is equipped with a variable refrigerant flow (VRF) HVAC system. Both areas are heated with an electric strip system, with a total capacity of 1,365 MBTUH. The lighting throughout is provided by energy efficient LED fixtures.

This project was completed in September 2019.
